In 2008, Akala released a track entitled ‘Comedy, Tragedy, History’ which he first created in a live free-style on BBC 1xtra radio station, when challenged to name-check 27 of Shakespeare’s plays in one rap by “DJ Twin B”.

Where it all began! Akala cheekily suggested in this track that he was the rapping reincarnation of “Shakespeare” which actually led to a more serious observation of the real parallels between the work of The Bard and hip-hop, thus spawning the birth of The Hip-Hop Shakespeare Company!
